Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2026: 50 Years of Deadly

At Lacey Events, we believe the most meaningful events are those that bring people together, celebrate culture and leave a lasting legacy within communities.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026, we proudly join communities across Australia in recognising the rich histories, diverse cultures and remarkable achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

This year’s theme, “50 Years of Deadly,” marks an important milestone, celebrating five decades of NAIDOC Week while honouring the strength, resilience, leadership and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the nation.

For our team, NAIDOC Week is much more than a date on the calendar. It is an opportunity to reflect on the relationships we have built, the communities we have had the privilege to work alongside, and the responsibility we carry to deliver events that are respectful, inclusive and genuinely community-led.

At Lacey Events, we understand that successful events are about far more than logistics and delivery. They are about creating spaces where people feel connected, stories are shared, cultures are celebrated and communities are empowered to lead their own vision.

Over the years, we have proudly partnered with First Nations organisations, government agencies, schools, sporting bodies and community groups to deliver projects that create meaningful social impact. From community festivals and sporting events to youth leadership initiatives, health and wellbeing programs, education events and cultural celebrations, every project reinforces the importance of collaboration, respect and genuine engagement.

We know that every community is different. Every story is unique. That’s why we believe the most successful outcomes come from listening first, working alongside local leaders and ensuring communities remain at the centre of every decision.

These partnerships continue to shape who we are as an organisation.

They have strengthened our understanding that authentic engagement is not a single conversation—it is an ongoing commitment built through trust, respect and shared purpose.

As a Queensland-based event management company, we are proud to work across metropolitan, regional and remote communities, helping organisations create experiences that strengthen connection, celebrate identity and deliver positive outcomes long after the event concludes.

This year’s theme, “50 Years of Deadly,” is also a reminder that every generation contributes to the legacy of those who came before them. It celebrates the achievements of Elders, leaders, educators, artists, athletes and changemakers whose knowledge, resilience and advocacy continue to inspire communities across Australia.

Their stories remind us why events matter.

When thoughtfully designed and delivered, events become places where culture is shared, young people are inspired, communities come together and lasting relationships are formed.

These are the outcomes we strive to create through every project we deliver.

As we celebrate NAIDOC Week, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live, work and deliver events. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are grateful to the many First Nations organisations, community leaders, clients and partners who have entrusted Lacey Events to support their vision. Your knowledge, guidance and collaboration continue to shape the way we work and strengthen the impact of every event we deliver.

From all of us at Lacey Events, we wish everyone a meaningful and inspiring NAIDOC Week.

Together, we celebrate 50 years of recognising what has always been true—our First Nations peoples, cultures, communities and stories are, and always will be, Deadly.
